For the first time in her career spanning more than eight years, South India's glamour queen Namitha is all set to don a negative role! According to sources, the actress will be the villain in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and scriptwriter Kalaignar Karunanidhi's Ilaignan, directed by Suresh Krishna with Pa. Vijay and Ramya Nambisan in the lead.
Namitha said there are many reasons why she signed Ilaignan. First, she loved her role. Second, she was hooked to the script by Karunanidhi. Third, she signed up because Ilaignan is the 50th film of Suresh Krishna, who directed the hits Annamalai and Baasha. I'm thrilled to do Ilaignan. My character is crucial to the development of the plot. It's a very powerful role, a character with negative shades with which I get to experiment with my looks and costumes, something different and striking. I accepted the role because the story, screenplay and dialogues for the film have been penned by Kalaignar. It feels good to be a part of such a project, the actress said. The actress is a little apprehensive about the audience's reaction to her negative role. She claimed that though her role is negative, it would still have the elements her fans would usually expect from her. The shooting has already begun in Ooty.
