A film adapted from the novel penned by Kalaignar Karunanidhi several years ago is being directed and produced by Thyagarajan with his son Prashanth playing dual roles. The film 'Ponnar Shankar' is about two warriors who are still considered as the protectors in several villages even in the present times.The inaugural pooja of Ponnar Shankar, which happened in 2009, was itself a grand affair and the sets erected for the film’s shooting will bring to fore that it is one of the costliest films of our times. Palaces, forts, temples etc., were erected for the purpose at the Valluvar Kottam for the first time.
Ponnar Shankar has a huge star cast including Prashanth, Pooja, Divya Parameshwar, Prakash Raj, Sneha, Kushboo, Vadivelu, Vijayakumar, Lakshmi, and Seetha. The film has reached climax shoot. The climax of this movie is being shot at Rajasthan and costly sets are said to have been erected for this purpose. The climax will be one of the grandest and the most thrilling scenes ever shot and is said to involve a grand fight in the lines of great historic films.
